Just after 1PM on Monday November 9th, the Trumansburg Fire Department was called mutual aid to neighboring Mecklenburg in Schuyler County for a house fire. 1804 and 1803 responded to the area of State Routes 79 and 228 to find the two story house fully involved and crews from the Mecklenburg Fire Department dousing the flames. While crews from Odessa, Burdett, Enfield, Newfield, and Trumansburg worked from the ground lobbing water through windows and doors, the Watkins Glen Fire Department set up their ladder truck on Turnpike Rd. and began pouring water into the structure from above which quickly brought the fire to an end. TFD was back in service in just under 2 hours while units from Mecklenburg remained on scene to search for any hot spots. The Ithaca and Interlaken fire departments were called to back fill the Trumansburg and Enfield stations. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
